Credibility, Authority & Destroying it All Instantly!

Credibility, Authority & Destroying it All Instantly!

OK, so I felt the need to write this as I see this kind of thing happening all the time…

WHY do people follow people?

Why do people listen to other people?

Why do people join a Network Marketing business or a business opportunity?

Why do people buy coaching from people online?

Why do people buy courses and trainings from people online?

Why, why, why?

Well, usually they do so because they perceive the other person to be an EXPERT who can help them get where they want to be…

I mean think about it…

 • Would you buy a course about making money online from somebody who’s made tens of thousands themselves, or from somebody who just made their first sale?
 • Would you get coaching and take health advice from somebody who’s in shape and fit, or from somebody who’s obviously not?
 • Would you learn about investing from somebody who’s just getting started, or from somebody who’s had a lot of success at investing?
 • Would you take Karate lessons from a red belt with 6 months experience, or would you aim to find somebody who’s a blackbelt with 10 plus years experience?

Etc, etc, etc…

I could continue to list the examples, over and over again…

Now…

I totally understand that you might not be an EXPERT in your chosen topic yet, and you’re still trying to get people to follow you, buy from you and join you…

And that’s absolutely fine…

Because you’ve got to start somewhere…

And people WILL still follow you and invest money with you because you are more accessible than somebody who’s at the top of their game…

And more than likely you are more affordable than somebody who’s been doing it for 10 years…

Be Selective With The Information You Share On Social Media

Now, it’s really important that you’re selective with the information you post and share on Social Media.

For example: If you’re looking to get new sign ups for your network marketing business or business opportunity and your trying to teach people how to make money online…

Then you should only be posting information that paints you as a successful person already…

Even if you’re not.

Now, I’m NOT saying Lie about your success…

Absolutely not…

But what I am saying is be selective about the information you share…

Example 1

You could choose to post a status update like this:

“Oh, I’m so frustrated… nothing I do seems to work, this online marketing thing is annoying”…

Or, instead you could create a status update like this:

“As you get more and more successful, you’ll hit more and more challenges, roadblocks and barriers… This is a GOOD thing because they’re designed to push you and force you to grow ”/> Embrace your problems and learn from them…”

<h3 class=Example 2

You could choose to post a status update like this:

“Whooooo, I just got my first sale online!”

Or, instead you could create a status update like this:

“I love making money online… it’s only 8am and already my first sale has come in today!”

See the difference?

It’s only subtle… but there’s a huge difference in positioning…

Now which one of the above status updates would get you more credibility and authority?

The second right?

Both times…

And if you posted the first one even once

That’s it…

Credibility & Authority Destroyed!

See, at an unconscious level your followers and people who listen to you are NOT going to see you as a successful person…

Yes, they might still engage with your posts

But they’ll hardly ever buy from you or join you…

Because they can see you’re struggling yourself and you can’t help them achieve their goals…

So be selective with the information you share…

Think about how they’ll perceive you once you’ve shared that information…

If it enhances your credibility and authority, then post it…

If it doesn’t… then don’t post it.

People who follow you closely, do so for a reason…

Because they think you may be able to help them achieve the goals they want to achieve…

It’s a fine balance…

DO NOT LIE about your results as you’ll get found out eventually…

And at the same time, do not post about your reality of struggling yourself either…

(There are right ways and wrong ways to talk about your struggles. You need to do it as if it happened in the past rather than if it’s happening now… and now you’ve found the solution. More on that later…)

Create your content AS IF YOU WERE ALREADY SUCCESSFUL…

To Wrap Up…

What are your thoughts on this? Have you ever done it yourself or seen others do it? I’d love to know…

Also feel free to share any examples of posts you’ve seen that ruin credibility and authority in the comments below.

Do You Know Anyone Who Struggles With This?
